ArcheryArchery needs little explanation. Robin Hood has a lot to do with that. The History of ArcheryArchery History goes back thousands of years. Stone arrow heads found in Africa indicate that the bow was invented there possibly as early as 50,000 BC, the main use probably being for hunting and defence. The Egyptians used the bow against the Persians 5,000 BC. In 1457 AD King James II banned football and golf because they took to much time from archery practice. The earliest record of Archery as a sport, is Scottish club Kilwinning Archers, formed in 1483 . International Archey developed through the Olympic games from 1900 and with the formation of the International Archery Federation - FITA in 1931. From Archey Gold.
