Badminton
A popular and skilled game played indoors in pairs or doubles on a court slightly smaller than a Tennis Court divided by a net, but played with a lightweight shuttlecock, which has a lot of drag and the skill is to land it inside the marked boundaries of the court, and prevent their opponents from doing the same using long-handled, light-weight racquets. Speed, reaction, and endurance are important skills for the sport .

Badminton History
From World Badminton. "During the earlier years of the sport, badminton was played under a variety of conditions- courts of different dimensions, shuttlecocks and rackets of many designs, even many different sets of rules defining the basic game. The pre-BAE years of 1873 thru 1893 have been researched by Dave Jacobs and posted on his web site. This era ended in 1893 with the founding of the Badminton Association of England and the accompanying codification of the rules. This was accomplished largely thru the efforts of Colonel S.S.C. Dolby , A.P.D who had been playing badminton for more than 20 years and clearly understood the need to standardize the sport. Colonel Dolby's residence , "Dunbar" is recognized as the official birth place of the Badminton Association of England."

Badminton History
From Wikipedia. "The beginnings of Badminton can be traced to mid-19th century British India, where it was created by British military officers stationed there. Early photographs show Englishmen adding a net to the traditional English game of battledore and shuttlecock."

From Wikipedia. A precursor to Badminton. This game is played by two persons with small rackets, called battledores, made of parchment or rows of gut stretched across wooden frames, and shuttlecocks, made of a base of some light material, like cork, with trimmed feathers fixed round the top.
