Winning the US Open is one of golf’s greatest achievements. Each June
amateur and professional players alike complete four days of 18-hole rounds
of golf in the quest to win this event. In the over 100 years of its
existence, it has become a sort of “World Golf Championship”. Horace Rawlins
won the introductory US Open on Rhode Island’s Newport Golf and Country Club
course in 1895. Then it was not as popular as it is today. As a matter of
fact, that first tournament was postponed because the more popular event,
the America's Cup yacht races, was scheduled at the same time. Since then
the event has evolved in many ways including format. Tickets to attend the
US Open where first sold in 1922 and today they are a highly desired
