Hurling has several similarities to Gaelic football, with the same number of players (15), similar goals and scoring. However, in hurling, the ball or 'sliotar' is about 25cm in circumference and can only be moved across the pitch using the 'hurley' stick. The latter is about 1m long, ending with an 8cm, curved blade. The sliotar can be taken off the hurley, prior to hitting it, but cannot be picked up by hand from the ground. Points are scored when the sliotar is hurled between the posts, scoring 1 point above the cross bar or 3 points into the net below the crossbar

North America Gaelic Athletics Association
promotes the sports of Hurling, Gaelic Football and Camogie. It is the governing body for those games for men and women, in all 50 states of the US, excluding the New York City metropolitan area. In 2005 in the NACB area, there were 110 adult clubs and 14 Youth clubs playing Gaelic Football, Hurling or Camogie in the US outside New York City. It has good links to clubs and Divisions and resources for Hurling.

Gaelic Football and Hurling Association of Australasia
Formed in 1967. Hurling is in its infancy - in the “Go Games” format for under 8’s through to under 12’s was introduced in Sydney from 2008. Camogie, which is the women’s equivalent of hurling commenced in Sydney in 2006 with numbers doubling in 2007. An exhibition game was also played at the 2007 Australasian Championships.
