Rugby Sevens

This is a variant of rugby union with teams of seven playe­rs, instead of the usual 15, with shorter matches. The fast action and short game times make it popular with the public and it has high TV ratings. The game originated way back in 1883 in Melrose, Scotland, when the shortened version of the game was introduced as part of a sports day.­

Rugby World Cup Sevens

Competed for by the Men's National Teams, organised by the IRB, first held in 1993 and held every 4 years. The winners of the tournament are awarded the Melrose Cup, named after the Scottish town of Melrose where the first rugby sevens game was played.
IRB Sevens World Series

The world's premiere rugby sevens series, organised by the IRB,  competed for by national teams from around the globe : New Zealand, USA, Dubai, South Africa, Australia, Hong Kong and Scotland. It has been in existance since 1999 and New Zealand has won the trophy the most times
