Rugby Union World Cup
Rugby Union World Cup 2011 Basics: To be held in New Zealand in Sept / Oct 2011. The cup features 20 teams - 12 teams qualified as a result of finishing in the top
three in each pool in the 2007 tournament and the remaining 8 berths
to be determined by regional qualifying tournaments. Each of the 4 pools play 10 matches each between the 11th Sept to 2nd October. The top two from each group take part in a knockout on 8/9 October in Christchurch and Wellington. The semi-finals (15th Oct) and the Final (23 Oct) are played at Eden Park, Aukland. This will be the largest sporting event ever held in New Zealand.

World Cup Qualification
For the first time the Draw used the IRB World Rankings 2008 to seed the 12 pre-qualified teams - Argentina, Australia, England, Fiji, France, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Tonga and Wales. Teams were allocated to bands, depending on Rankings. The final groups are:
Pool A: New Zealand, France, Tonga, Americas 1, Asia 1
Pool B: Argentina, England, Scotland, Europe 1, Final Place Playoff
Pool C: Australia, Ireland, Italy, Europe 2, Americas 2
Pool D: South Africa, Wales, Fiji, Oceania 1, Africa 1
