­­ early_skateboardA skateboard,  typically a specially designed polywood board combined with a quad wheeled, dual "truck" and eight bearing system, is used to provide recreational and sporting activities.   The most popular form of skateboarding consist of Street Skating. This form of skateboarding consists of casual boarding and performing acrobatics such as 360's, Alley-oops, and Nose Grinds. It is common for the skater to cause the board to make contact with street objects such a rails, walls, jumps, and curbs while performing tricks. The safest alternative is in Skateboard Parks specially engineered to challenge the skateboarder, with ramps, rails, and halfpipes that offer the boarder a unique experience not found in street skating.  A third discipline is Streetluge is a form of street skateboarding that offers the adrenaline rush of high speed skateboarding,  performed on steep downhills that consist of tight radius curves.
