Snowmobile Racing
Snowmobiles are powerful machines, increasingly with four-stroke engines, driven by tracks made of a Kevlar composite and capable being used on more surfaces than snow. so it is not surprising that they are used for a variety of racing formats -Snowcross/racing, trail riding, freestyle, mountain climbing, boondocking (free-camping in the wild), ditchbanging and drag racing on grass or asphalt or even racing over water.

Sno-cross
Sno-cross is derived from motor-cross. Snowmobile Skipping / Watercross
The main idea of Water Skipping/Watercross is to cross from one point to another on water while riding a snowmobile. It is possible because snowmobiles have wide tracks for traction and flotation in the snow, hitting the water at an acceptable speed and keeping the sled's throttle open, the track keeps the snowmobile on the surface of the water without sinking. Wikipedia.
Ice-Racing
'Ice racing was the first form of snowmobile racing and still is the fastest form of snowmobile racing around today. Ice racing cobines the speed of specially set up snowmobiles to the finesse of cornering at very high speeds. With these men and women pushing speeds of 100+ mph and charging in to the corners 6 plus racers together and putting all their faith in two pieces of carbides to hold them thru the turns it truly is amazing to watch.'
