Football (Soccer) has its origins in
England in the dark ages when
villages would spend a day or two kicking an inflated
pig's bladder across
ditches and fields. It was refined in Britain during the 1800's and the
first league appeared in 1883. Around the world, there is
early
evidence of ball games played with the feet. The
ball has developed
a ling way since then, now with
microchips to
check if it has crossed the goal line. See also
origins of
soccer, rugby etc. See
Wikipedia for an
interpretation of the word 'Football' in different Countries
Football's
governing body is FIFA founded
in Paris on
21 May
1904 - they maintain the rules of football.
It has over 200
Associations around the world, managed by 6
Confederations - Africa, Asia, North and Central America and Caribbean,
South America, Oceania and Europe.
