History The
first recorded
introduction to "sailboarding" involving the universal joint, was by Newman
Darby in 1963, but Aeronautical Engineer
Bill Drake is often credited with this. He feels his contribution
was "to make the thing actually efficient and workable". Manufacture
of the equipment started in the 1970's and the popularity of the sport took

responsible for the management and development of competitive windsurfing –
in all disciplines. The

control of their own destinies through their constitutions, class rules,
